Welcome to Procharter, Europes best workboat
manufacturer.
Our new Procharter range is spearheaded by the Procharter
P4. As its name denotes, it is forty ft in length (or
33’ up to 40’) 13ft in beam with a waterline
length of 38ft and a waterline beam of over 12’.
As you can see from these dimensions we have a very
long waterline length for a forty ft boat. We achieved
this by leaving off 5ft of pointy front and continued
with a duck billed nose. In practice you can go front
end to a jetty making it a purposeful design with many
uses. With the island wheelhouse it is possible to use
her as a front loader.
Conceived and designed following the success of the
Offshore 105 (over 600 produced) our design team took
a fresh look at the needs of the professional skipper
and the new Procharter P4 was born.
A Fresh Aproach
Not only is the design new, the structure and the construction
materials have been completely re-designed. Our design
and production team have taken a fresh approach to each
and every aspect of the boats design resulting in our
most successful and dramatic design yet. No doubt that
within the marine industry you have heard this a thousand
times before. That is why we are not asking you to take
our word for it. We do not believe a customer should
spend his money buying a boat on a promise or sincere
assurances to its performance and seamanship. That is
why it has always been our policy to have our own dedicated
demonstrator. We like the customer to come and take
our boats out in whatever weather. This is the only
way a customer can know for sure what he is going to
get for his money. Furthermore one person’s opinion
on the handling of a boat does not mean he is right.
Our seas off the North Cornwall coast are some of the
most dramatic and varied in the country so come and
find out for yourself why we consider our boats to be
the best.

Our P4 and P3 demonstrators
It is common knowledge that
a long waterline length increases speed. This means it
is easier to propel and more fuel-efficient. With a waterline
beam of over 12’ giving us raft like floatation,
combined with our new “M” shaped hull gives
the stability at speed of a V hull combined with the lack
of roll of a catamaran. This is best explained with a
visit to our yard where we will be able to show you in
the mould how the tunnels have been designed to trap and
release water whilst drifting or at anchor giving amazing
stability.
This highly efficient hull
requires no more power than 370hp. In our ex-demonstrator
the Procharter 40 Long Island (island wheelhouse) we chose
a 370hp John Deere and she achieves 26 knots. This is
our heavyset option boat being 40ft and having a 12 seated
Island wheelhouse. With our conventional lighter wheelhouse
another couple of knots can be expected. On further trials
Our Procharter 40 fitted with twin 240hp engines on shaft
drives achieved a top speed of over 30 knots and would
turn in its own length.
In a following and a beam
sea the boat is outstanding, feeling solid and does not
show any signs of broaching. Our new Procharter 40 has
a completely re-designed bow allowing it to raise quicker
and thus reducing the “Slamming” . Being nearly
2 ft wider below the water line, the hull form has once
again been totally redesigned to give natural lift and
increase stability. It is this natural lift that helps
to increase the performance. Because the hull design gets
the nose up quickly the horsepower required to get onto
the plane is vastly reduced. Also due to the added beam
below the waterline that whilst on tick over in a rough
sea the boat drifts well giving a dry stable working platform.
We designed the Procharter
range for its work / use capability as opposed to making
a pretty boat then trying to adapt it for work practicality.
The hull is completely laid up by hand (absolutely no
spray lay-up is ever used) The lay up is in accordance
to B V rules. The hull is then ribbed out with 4ft centers
of reinforced foam beams reducing the unsupported panel
size. This combined with our lattice of composite non
timber bulkheads both transversely and longitudinally
dramatically stiffens the hull with its “egg box”
style construction making it a much stronger boat.
A GRP. Sheathed polycarbonate
honeycombed core has replaced the old “ply wood”
bulkheads dramatically reducing weight whilst once again
increasing the strength compared to the older wooden type
bulkheads. Another advantage of the composite bulkheads
over the wood is that they are “closed cell”
meaning no more water ingress into the bulkheads. Not
only does this mean that the bulkheads retain there structural
integrity the boat does not get heavier over a short period
of time due to water retention and as a result slow down
the performance and push up the running costs and of course
will not rot in time.
Our Procharter 40 is available at lengths from 33ft to
40ft with a beam of 13ft. It is available with either
a standard wheelhouse or an island wheelhouse both of
which are available with a flush deck or with an engine
box. Engine options can be either single or twin.
Unique Island Wheelhouse
gives 360° Fishability
The island wheelhouse has 360° fishability with a
gunnel length of over 90’. Anglers can fish all
around the boat relieving the all to familiar crowding
problems. The wheelhouse is up to 14ft (shorter is available)
long and can incorporate a “downstairs” head
compartment. Seating can be for up to 12 people and the
layout can be customized to suite individual customers
needs. The wheelhouse can be positioned anywhere on the
deck of the boat and is heavily bonded to the main bulkheads
and the longitudinal's, not just the deck.

The Island wheelhouse on weighs significantly more than
the conventional one. We have positioned the Island wheelhouse
on our demonstrator well forward resulting in around 2
knots slower performance than a conventional wheelhouse.
If you prefer a conventional wheelhouse our standard
wheelhouse is shown below. By removing the centre window
and enlarging the two outer ones visibility has been increased
and blind spots removed. From the helm the skipper has
a panoramic view around the boat. Good visibility is crucial
in all aspects including birthing for safety reasons.
With the standard wheelhouse the fore cabin can be up
to 8ft. The length of the wheelhouse can be up to 14ft
4inches (22ft 4inches including forward cabin) long and
the aft deck can be up to 28ft x 13ft giving a substantial
amount of room allowing the customer to any position his
wheel house bulkheads and dash board, this allows him
to apportion the space to where it is most useful.
The Procharter P4 is available at any stage from a bare
set of moldings to a fully finished boat ready for work.
On the Island wheelhouse however we can only supply it
once the wheelhouse has been bonded to the longitudinal's
and the bulkheads

Our company philosophies
Boats must be on time
Both the private customer and the commercial skipper
must be able to rely on getting his boat on time. For
international customers and non-local customers we install
internet-cameras on the boats so that the customer can
watch the progress of his boat on a live stream 24 hours
a day. Also, we provide regular photo updates via e-mail
showing the progress being made on your boat.
Boats must be available for trials
You can not expect customers to make an educated decision
on what boat he needs if he can’t try it out. At
ProCharter we have a selection of models in the water
to try at any time.
Boats must be fairly priced
We build boats based on the trade price of the materials
and then the 'labour cost' of finishing them off. This
puts us ahead of the competition on both price and value
for money. We openly publish our prices on this site for
all our boats, many of our competitors do not do this
but we feel it is important that the customer knows he
is getting exactly what he pays for and all our sail away
boats have everything needed to do exactly that –
sail away. For customer security and peace of mind, our
boats are built in stages. These stages are payable in
arrears, this means that when each particular stage is
completed to the customers satisfaction it is then paid
for. With this method of payments the customer is assured
that his payments are being used to build his boat and
it will be to his satisfaction.
